Ancora Jay - The Librarian
(He/Him)
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been drawing and watching anime. Some of my earliest memories are drawing pokemon on construction paper and obsessing over the art in vocaloid music videos alongside writing stories with my original characters. Needless to say; art and animation have always been a huge part of my life, from the cartoons I watched to the first anime I encountered in the wild. (Moon Phase, Ouran Highschool Host Club, and Squid Girl come to mind!)
When I was 14 I got my first tablet for digital art and Firealpaca after years of using touch screen devices and random apps. I drew obsessively every day, using ‘how to draw manga’ books and videos by my favorite artists to study how they draw. And I’ve been drawing digitally ever since, and I always want to encourage anyone regardless of age or experience to create. Be it writing, drawing, or acting. I know first hand the invaluable ways art can positively impact ones mental health, but in the digital age it’s come back around more often than not to artists feeling punished or unappreciated for their work.
My goal in creating art and streaming has always been to uplift, as cheesy as it sounds. I hope to be able to entertain while also bringing attention to independent games and books! In my opinion, indie media are some of the most impressive and heartfelt pieces of media out there. So my mission is to get more eyes on indie artists of all types so they can get even more support.
As someone whose experienced discrimination and mistreatment based off my gender, sex and orientation, I also want to support charities and initiatives that benefit those who suffer mistreatment for their identity or their appearance. I swore when I first hit affiliate on Twitch that I’d donate 20% of all my earnings straight to charities that benefit the queer community, but I hope to expand this to donating to a variety of organizations that benefit all those who need it!
In summary, I want to keep creating to support independent creators as well as communities that are unjustly mistreated. I’d love to have you join me on that journey, just your presence helps, no donations or payments required! The library will always welcome any guests, no matter who you are. So let’s try to put some more kindness into the world, in the places that need it the most.
